NEW APPLE NUMBERS APPLICATION

This week I have attended all of the Apple Back to School Sessions 2022, as I believe it is essential to continually learn and add new skills to my repertoire. For those of you who would like to build new skills using iPads / Macs in the classroom, Apple Teacher is the place for you. You can earn Apple Teacher badges along the way and interact with some excellent teaching and learning examples from around the world.

Thank you, Kiri Marschall - APLS, for your excellent presentation. One of my big takeaways from the Back to School Sessions was learning that the App Numbers can be used in many new ways. Your presentation, along with ideas from my good friend Karen Hayward inspired me to use Numbers to create a student reading journal.

Students can work through the activities presented in this Numbers workbook for each book students read. Activities include:

  • Reading Goal Setting

  • Making Predictions

  • Making Connections

  • Summary

  • Cause and Effect

  • Character Analysis

  • Images in My Mind

  • Vocabulary

  • and Questioning.

Also included is an assessment rubric that may guide students and teachers on the level of work expected.

Using Numbers on iPad to access this activity engages students in various creative processes, including photography, writing, drawing, and recording, just to name a few. Work can easily be shared with peers and the teacher using Share or Export.

I have shared a full PDF copy of this project in the Resouces Section on the Website Home Page. If you would like a copy of the actual document in the Numbers Format, please send me an email at sandy@insighttechnologyeducation.com.au, and I will share it with you.
